Since 1996, state-of-the-art, carrier-neutral edge colocation services have been offered in Hamburg, serving Germany and the surrounding regions. 

At the end of 2023, an additional plot of land was acquired next to the existing data center to expand the site. The new data center is now in design phase and will add 12.8MW of IT capacity.

Information about the Hamburg location

Our Network
As a member of Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) we provide comprehensive know-how related to the big issues of IP and routing. We can assign you individual IP addresses as well as entire network blocks and AS numbers. Of course, we completely support the IPv6 protocol and are happy to make this available for all products.
Portus is present at a variety of European data exchanges, enabling the shortest routes for the internet. These include, e.g. DE-CIX (in Frankfurt), AMS-IX (in Amsterdam) and ECIX (in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin). This is where data exchange takes place directly with major internet access and content providers. The ECIX Hamburg Core infrastructure is located in our Wendenstrasse data center. For interested customers, we can implement fast and direct access to the ECIX exchange node.
In order to guarantee customers full redundancy and permanent availability, Portus is connected to a variety of locations via multiple upstream links. The backbone routers are also redundantly connected via fiber optics (fiber optic technology). Each location consists of a least two backbone routers as a mutual safeguard in the event of a failure.
In addition to the data center and the main Wendenstrasse location, Portus operates another data center in Hamburg’s city center and cabinets at a co-location site not far from the main location. Outside Hamburg we use the premises of INTERXION in Frankfurt for our equipment. This choice of location is especially attractive to customers who want to expand their communications options or relocate their backups.

ISO 27001 is the internationally leading standard for information security management systems. It is widely recognized as the benchmark for assessing the security of information and IT environments. The standard specifies the requirements for planning, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving a documented information security management system.

IPHH Internet Port Hamburg GmbH has been continuously certified as compliant with ISO/IEC 27001:2013 by TÜV Rheinland since its initial certification on February 6, 2017. Following the transition in September 2025, certification according to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 will be in place as of October 31, 2025. Due to the late transition, two certificates are issued; please take note of this.

The HDS certification (Hébergeur de Données de Santé) introduced by the French health authority “Agence du Numérique en Santé” is intended to strengthen the protection and security of personal health data of French citizens.

IPHH Customers who want to store and process health data of French citizens in IPHH Datacenter HH2/R2 or HH3/R1 and are already HDS certified themselves (levels 3,4,5,6) could now order the option “HDS Hosting (1,2)” from IPHH and run their hardware in our datacenters.

Update 22.08.2025:

  • Re-certification completed
  • New Certificate will be available shortly.
  • HDS Version transition to Version 2 in March 2026.
