Domains

Portus is your contact for registering new domains and transferring domains from providers or domain owners. Of course, in our range of services you’ll also find all top-level domains (TLDs) such as biz, com, de or eu.

Do you want to find out the options for registering a domain? Are you interested in international domain matters? Or do you simply want to renew the registration of a domain?

We’ll take care of your entire domain portfolio to which you can add any number of domain names with our assistance in accordance with registry requirements. We’ll always keep an eye on possible changes to registration requirements, necessary domain renewals and the technical management of your domain portfolio.

We have a great deal of experience in international enquiries. Many providers avoid the administrative efforts required for the international transfer of domains.

For you we’ll manage the transfer of ownership of a Russian (ru) or a British (uk) domain and handle all other international domain matters.

Our offer is perfectly secured by a Software Service Agreement (SSA) and a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that can be an indispensable help in an emergency and may also include the reservation of spare parts.

We can also perform (Nagios) monitoring of various services and quickly initiate measures when problems occur. Hosting is customized to your personal needs in advance.

Virtual Hosting

Is your project more than just a simple website, but not yet worth the investment of a dedicated server? Take advantage of our customized virtual server. It runs on redundant hardware administered and maintained by Portus and has precisely the amount of RAM, hard drive space, and processing power your project requires.

Backup

You cannot find important data, discover a corrupted table within a database, or find vital e-mails have been deleted. The nightmare of every responsible user is no problem with a current backup. Unfortunately, many users and administrators come to this realization when it’s already too late. So protect yourself in time with backups. Your data will be retained on redundant systems as long as you like and can be retrieved when needed. This service can be combined with automatic Nagios monitoring. Ever larger amounts of storage are being required. Because this aspect is always accompanied by considerations of security and availability, Portus offers a central system – Portus Storage. We store your quickly available critical data on our redundant systems.

DNS

We are happy to manage DNS services not only domains registered with us. We are also happy to offer our distributed DNS infrastructure for domains registered elsewhere.

You can of course run your own DNS server, functioning as a hidden master for the Portus DNS infrastructure. All of Portus’s name servers also speak IPv6, of course.

SSL Certificates

Trustworthiness is the main currency of the internet. SSL certificates confirm that your shop section, your registration page, etc. is protected and that communication with you is encrypted. Depending on the type of SSL certificate a number of different validation methods are employed. Perhaps, you have noticed that the address bar in your browser has turned green. Pages where this occurs are protected by an “Extended Validation” certificate, an especially trustworthy type of certificate.

We’ll help you select the right type of certificate and will take care of creating, validating and issuing it as well as installing it on your server. We cooperate with a variety of trust centers, which ultimately verify the certificate.

E-Mail

Because e-mail has become such a matter of course you should rely on a solid service. Portus’s e-mail service allows you to communicate securely and comfortably. Your data is in your domain on Portus’s own redundant systems. And you can create as many mail boxes as you need.

Other highly topical advantages: Unlike the free services available online, you don’t have to worry about data protection, personal privacy or advertising.

We also offer a mail relay service: our systems accept e-mails sent to you and check them for viruses and spam. The e-mails are then filtered according to your criteria and are forwarded, for instance, to an Exchange server at your location.

Using the Smarthost service you don’t send your e-mail via your own mail server, but use Portus’s system instead.

This means that for you, open relays (a poorly configured server accepts e-mail from anywhere and sends them onwards, even though it’s not responsible for doing so) and blacklists will be a thing of the past.
